We are currently scheduling patients with essential eye care needs for their annual comprehensive exam. We have implemented new office policies and protocols specifically to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure. Here are two important reminders for all of our patients : (1) We are still limiting the number of patients entering the practice at any given time. Priority is given to patients with scheduled appointments. We understand that this can be viewed as an inconvenience; however our top priority remains the health and well-being of our patients, families, staff and community. (2) Please do not neglect your eyes and vision during this pandemic. Too often, we neglect eye health until we notice something wrong with our vision. The following are eye-related issues that should not be ignored:
Fortunately, we have seen only a handful or so of vision-threatening cases during this period. Not surprisingly, the most common complaint we've seen during this time is eye strain due to excessive computer use. If you are using digital devices (computers, mobile phones, electronic readers, tablets) more than 2-4 hours a day and noticing temporary blurred vision, eye fatigue, eye redness, headaches and difficulty sleeping you may have Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) or Digital Eye Strain. If we determine that you do have CVS, we can prescribe personalized computer specific glasses to prevent and/or alleviate these symptoms.
