Latest Update : COVID-19 and our Practice

Updated January 1, 2022

We are currently scheduling  patients with essential eye care needs for their annual comprehensive exam. We have implemented new office policies and protocols specifically to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure. We have taken necessary precautions to continue to care for patients who require our service during this time. Please click here for more details.
Here are two important reminders for all of our patients : (1) We are still operating under a "closed door" policy. This simply means that only patients with scheduled appointments are allowed into the practice. We understand that this can be viewed as an inconvenience; however our top priority remains the health and well-being of our patients, families, staff and community. (2) A "closed door" policy does not imply that you should neglect your essential eye care needs.
Too often, we neglect eye health until we notice something wrong with our vision. The following are eye-related issues that should not be ignored:
  • difficulty seeing (and driving) at night
  • blurry vision
  • trouble reading up close
  • flashes of light and/or new onset floaters (especially if you are highly nearsighted)
  • pain or pressure in/around the eye
  • red, watery eyes
  • double vision
These may be warning signs that your eyes need medical evaluation. They may indicate a developing disease, such as age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, cataract, diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy and glaucoma. Early detection and treatment of these conditions can help save your sight and prevent vision loss. To see a specific case illustrating the importance of proactive eye care, please click here.

Fortunately, we have seen only a handful or so of vision-threatening cases during this period. Not surprisingly, the most common complaint we've seen during this time is eye strain due to excessive computer use. If you are using digital devices (computers, mobile phones, electronic readers, tablets) more than 2-4 hours a day and noticing temporary blurred vision, eye fatigue, eye redness, headaches and difficulty sleeping you may have Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) or Digital Eye Strain. If we determine that you do have CVS, we can prescribe personalized computer specific glasses to prevent and/or alleviate these symptoms.
